Why Men Join Phi Mu Delta
Friendship through PMD will last a lifetime. Phi Mu Delta is a true brotherhood that will give you the best men at your wedding and a support system when you need help. We honor the uniqueness of each candidate and member of PMD, and believe our differences make us stronger as brothers.

PMD will open doors for you in the future. Our network is more than just a large number; it is a support system unlike any other. Your goals are supported, hopes are shared, and dreams are meant to become a reality.

You are in college to receive your education. Receiving your degree is our top priority for PMD. A fraternity offers you an education outside of the classroom in life skills that translate out of college and in the corporate world.
Is Joining Fraternity Worth The Money?
Joining a fraternity is an investment in you. And while the initial cost may seem overwhelming, the rewards greatly outweigh the costs. Being a collegiate member in PMD affords you benefits such as an established networking opportunity with alumni, educational conferences and retreats, and many other covered expenses. Joining a fraternity is an expense on top of tuition, but the life lessons, rewards, and networking opportunities associated are priceless.
How Can PMD help you today?
Phi Mu Delta provides you with a one-of-a-kind opportunity to develop your leadership and management experience. Whether you have a mind for numbers, enjoy meeting a ton of new people, or a passion to lead, PMD provides you an outlet to develop your skills and contribute them to the Fraternity.
Members of PMD are also given the opportunity to attend leadership and educational conferences throughout the United States.

National Conclaves- National Conclave is the supreme legislative body of the fraternity. It is a biennial event occurring on the even-numbered years. At Conclave, members elect National Council Officers, determine National Constitution and By-Law changes, and make recommendations on the policies and operation of the fraternity. Anyone from a chapter/colony is welcome to attend, but the National Constitution states that each chapter/colony is required to send three undergraduate delegates to Conclave—two head delegates (usually the president and highest-ranking officer attending) and one alternate delegate. The two head delegates serve as the chapter’s undergraduate votes, and if a head delegate is not on the floor, the alternate serves as the vote.

Sapphire Leadership Institute- The Sapphire Leadership Institute is held biannually to assist all undergraduate members who are interested in learning more about leadership. This program allows participants to practice their own leadership skills in preparation for their growing role as chapter leaders. Each chapter and colony is expected to send four members this a four-day residential experience.
Cornerstone Institute – The Cornerstone Institutes are designed to provide chapter members training on three key membership components: recruitment, membership development, and accountability. These are held at the beginning of the fall semesters on, at least, three different campuses around the country for members to attend. All members all welcome to attend this free program but the Vice President of Membership, Vice President of Member Development, Recruitment chair, and Sergeant-at-Arms are required to attend. This program replaces the previous Recruitment Academy.
Why Should I Join?
Phi Mu Delta takes pride in the uniqueness of each member of our Fraternity. Your interest in PMD shows that our mission of aiding men in their mental, moral, and social development for their life is something you want to be a part of. Your uniqueness and your path through college and after graduation will be changed when you become a member of Phi Mu Delta. You will become more socially aware, academically driven, and hold leadership positions that will make you a better man for a better world. Most importantly, you will have the time of your life. Join PMD to become the man you have always wanted to be.
Expectations of You
To better understand the connections between the fraternity ideals and the undergraduate members’ actions, there are expectations of fraternity membership. Setting clear expectations can help avoid miscommunication and frustration between members.
LIVE THE RITUAL OF THE ORGANIZATION
• Members should know and understand the ideals expressed in the fraternity ritual and will strive to incorporate them in their daily lives.
ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT
• Members should strive for academic achievement: attend class, study regularly, prepare for tests and projects.
• Practice academic integrity.
BEHAVE RESPONSIBLY
• Respect the dignity of all persons; therefore, members should not physically, mentally, psychologically or sexually abuse or haze any human being.
PROTECT THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF ALL HUMAN BEINGS
• Respect my property and the property of others; therefore, members will neither abuse nor tolerate the abuse of property.
• Neither use nor support the use of illegal drugs.
PARTICIPATE IN FRATERNITY LIFE
• Attend meetings, serve on committees, be at events, support the fraternity.
MEET FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS IN A TIMELY MANNER
• The fraternity needs revenue in order to function and when a member does not pay on time, the fraternity experience suffers.
RECRUIT LIKE-MINDED, QUALITY MEN
• The chapter will not remain if there are no members, so recruiting quality men is crucial.
• Replace yourself before leaving the chapter: someone to take your place, someone that is competent and will positively impact the group.
HOLD PEOPLE ACCOUNTABLE
• Brotherhood isn’t easy. The most difficult part is holding members accountable when they do not meet the expectations of the group.
• Challenge other members to abide by these fraternal expectations and confront those who violate them.
What's the Process to Join?
1. Bid Acceptance
If the men of the chapter deems you of sterling character and staunch uprightness, they will offer you a bid to join Phi Mu Delta. From there, you have 48 hours to accept the bid.

2. Induction
You will then be inducted into the Fraternity. During this public ritual, you will make promises to the chapter or colony and the initiated members will make promises to you. 48 Hours prior to Induction, you are expected to pay your induction fee $40 to Phi Mu Delta National Fraternity. From this, your candidate education process begins.

3. Initiation
After your candidate education process is completed, you will be required to pay your initiation fee ($300). After paying this fee, you will be initiated into Phi Mu Delta. During initiation, you will learn the secrets of Phi Mu Delta and become a member of PMD, with all of the rights and privileges that come with membership.

4. Beyond Initiation
In PMD, learning never ends. As an initiated member, you will have the opportunity to serve on committees or in a leadership role. Your personal development really just begins after initiation. You have now become part of the Fraternity for Life.
